Poor maintenance of room and public area. Old furnishings.

What was the highlight of Sakol Grand Palace
It is a place that you get what you pay for.
This was probably one of the finest hotels around 30 years ago. It still has all the beautiful decor from that time. They have been remodeling and updating but still have work to do. This is not a 3 star hotel, it’s a good place for the money, but your expectations should know that the price you pay is what your getting. Rooms are adequate, but still are being updated. I will say though the sheets are the cleanest and the beds are made like the sheets were ironed. Very comforting when you slide into bed.
I don’t like to complain, but they need to prioritize some items, I think the floors in the room need to be addressed, getting rid of the carpet and going to a tile would do wonders for the room. Again I know they are working on items, but you could tell that smoking was allowed previously in the rooms from years past.
